Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

YEAR 7 THE BUSHCRAFT COMPANY-BOUGHTON WOODS – MONDAY 06 JULY – 08 JULY 2026

We are pleased to offer you the chance to take part in our 2026 Year 7 trip to The Bushcraft Company, Boughton Woods. This unique opportunity will be open to all our Year 7’s.  This trip is a fantastic opportunity for your child to engage with their classmates in an unfamiliar setting, experience learning outside the classroom and have different adventures and fun.

Provider: The Bushcraft Company

We are working alongside The Bushcraft Company to provide this trip for our students. They have been in the industry for 10 years, and are members of a number of governing bodies including British Activity Provider Association (BAPA), The Council for Learning outside the classroom (LOTC), Adventuremark, Royal Society for the prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and Institute for the Outdoor Learning (IOL).

Location: Boughton Woods

The students will be staying in the heart of the Woodlands in Boughton Woods in Northamptonshire. The location offers a large Yurt, cosy campfire for mealtimes and talks, its own field kitchen and safari style bell tents to sleep in.  There are also single sex Portaloo’s and showers if required.

Boughton Woods has a great range of outdoor activities designed to enhance social and personal development, whilst having fun and learning new skills

We will be staying for 2 nights which includes full board and more details can be viewed on their website - Boughton Woods - The Bushcraft Company

Travelling:  By Coach

We will be leaving Stratton on Monday 6th July 2026 (Timings TBC). Our return journey will commence on Wednesday 8th July 2026 arriving back at Stratton at a time to be confirmed. We will be travelling by coach that has facilities to make our journey as comfortable as possible.

Activities:

The exact daytime and evening itinerary has not yet been agreed, however an idea of what each day will look like is on the next page: -

Payment Details:
We expect the total cost of the visit to be £262.00 However, this price is dependent on a group of over 70 students attending the trip. If the number of students falls below this number, then the quoted price could increase.
Please note that the maximum number of pupils we can take on this trip is 72 – places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and once we reach this number a waiting list will be held.  We will also look at whether we can organise another coach should the need arise.

If you wish to reserve a place for your child we will require a £50 deposit to be paid via My Child At School (Bromcom) by 3rd October 2025 to secure a place on the trip.  By paying the deposit you are agreeing to the statements listed on page 4 of this letter. Please note the deposit is non-returnable unless we are unable to offer your child a place on the visit.

When accessing MyChildatschool click on Trips, and the Bushcraft trip should be showing.  Click on View details and then your payment can be added to the basket.  Please ensure you refer to the payment plan below at each stage to make the correct payment due (the letter will be attached within MyChildatschool for you to view at all times).  When you want to pay the next installment it will show under Outstanding Payments on MCAS.

In order to meet the payment terms set by Bushcraft please note the following payment schedule:

If full payment is not received by the agreed dates, then the place may be forfeited and any payments made to date are unlikely to be refunded. Alternative or smaller, more regular payments can be made, as long as the payment deadlines are met, please contact the finance office to arrange this.

Our Expectations:
In line with our code of behaviour, we expect all our students to behave as our ‘ambassadors’ when on school visits. Water/Land activities are demanding and can be very dangerous if not prepared for and attempted with respect. We, therefore, reserve the right to refuse a place, or withdraw the offer of a place, should we have concerns about a child’s ability to cope with the very high expectations for attitude and behaviour.

We are looking forward to a really enjoyable and successful week!

Yours sincerely
