Snow Closure... Here’s What Families Need to Know

Why Might the School Close?

  • Safety First: If roads are dangerous, it may not be safe for staff or students to travel
  • Heating and Utilities: Severe weather can cause power or heating issues, making classrooms unsuitable.
  • Staffing Levels: If many staff can’t get in, we may not have enough adults to supervise students safely.
  • Site Safety: Snow and ice can make playgrounds, paths, and car parks hazardous.

How We’ll Let You Know

  • Website: Check the school homepage for the latest updates.
  • Email & Text: We’ll send messages to all registered priority 1+2 contacts.
  • Social Media: Follow our official channels for quick updates.

What You Should Do

  1. Check Before You Travel: Always confirm closure info before leaving home.
  2. Keep Phone Lines Free: Please avoid calling the school unless it’s an emergency.
  3. Plan Ahead: If school is closed, make arrangements for your child’s care.
  4. Stay Safe: If the weather is severe, avoid unnecessary travel.

Partial Closures

  • Sometimes we may open late or close early. Please keep an eye on updates and be ready to collect your child promptly if needed.

When We Reopen

  • We’ll let you know as soon as it’s safe for everyone to return.

What Students Should Do

  • During a closure, students should follow their published timetable.
  • Learning resources will be posted on Teams.
  • A hybrid of independent work and Live instruction will be created, depending on the reason for closure.
